XKs Unlimited's Jaguar Celebration and 40 Anniversary Weekend Recap

Oct. 4-5-6, 2013 San Luis Obispo, Ca

Youre probably tired of hearing about the absolutely gorgeous weather we enjoy here on Californias central coast, but the weather for our open house weekend was, well, absolutely gorgeous. The activities kicked off with a gathering at the host hotel, where we rented a suite with an attached open-air courtyard. Complementary wine, tasty hors doeuvres and enthusiastic friends made for a wonderful time.

Our open house started Saturday morning and rolled through about 3 p.m. We saw a steady flow of customers and enthusiasts interested in saving on parts for their Jaguars and seeing the restoration facilities first hand. Our invited guest, Mr. Philip Porter, was on site to sign copies of his newly released book, The Iconic Jaguar XK. (Mr. Porter is a respected author and historian, as well as founder of the XK Club and E-Type Club. These clubs focus on the care, restoration, and active use of these two models. Both clubs produce a 50-page slick magazine each month devoted to the goings on of these favorite Jaguar cars.) On Saturday evening the ballroom at the host hotel was transformed into Casino Royale. Professional dealers and gaming tables were in place as well as dinner and dancing. Mr. Porter was our guest speaker and charmed the audience with his stories and light-hearted tales.

Sunday morning dawned bright to welcome the participants for the fun-run rallye and an all-makes car show. There are plenty of photos in the accompanying galleries. If you were in attendance we are pleased you made the trip and hope you enjoyed yourself; if you missed this event, perhaps you can make it here another time.

This year we offered a grand prize give-away of airfare for two to London. Each meal ticket was given an entry into the drawing and extra entries could be purchased to fill the hopper 'in your favor.' Monday afternoon, October 7th, we had our two English guests, Mr. Philip Porter and Mr. Aubry Finburgh, perform the draw. We are pleased to announce that Mr. Frank Gauer won the trip to London. Congratulations Frank!

A number of events over the weekend benefitted the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. Through the generosity of our customers and friends, XKs Unlimited was able to give a $3,080 gift to the Society.

Thank you one and all for your participation. And a special thanks to the staff and spouses of XKs Unlimited for their contribution of time and energy to make the event run smoothly.
