  • This close-ratio gearbox is rated at 475 HP and 500 ft/lbs of torque and has a 2.97 1st gear, .80 5th gear and a .62 6th gear. This is an excellent choice for any XJ-S. Cars equipped with a 2:88 differential (most 5.3-liter HE cars) will see improved acceleration over the factory automatic, but not to the level of the TKO 500 5-speed. It is strongly recommended that the 6-speed be used with a 3.54 or lower (numerically higher) differential. All models will have excellent high-speed cruising ability in 5th and 6th gears. The 6-speed offers better acceleration at speeds between 80 and 125 mph than either of our 5-speed kits.
  • Kits are based on a brand new TREMEC TKO-500 or TKO-600 5-speed or a T-56 6-speed. These are exceptional close-ratio transmissions that can easily withstand a V-12s power and torque output. They yield refined, positive shifting through internal rails (no external linkage other than shift lever) and are fully synchronized in all forward gears. The 5-speeds have one overdrive gear and the 6-speeds have two well-spaced and useful overdrives.
  • These Tremec transmissions have been custom tailored to fit inside the Jaguar transmission tunnel and the shift lever exits in the proper position. No modifications are required other than cutting a 3" x 4" hole in the tunnel for the shift lever.
  • Kits are complete. All components are included ? top-to- bottom and front-to-rear.
  • Installation is straightforward and step-by-step illustrated instructions are included.
  • You can convert back to the automatic transmission with almost no evidence.
  • Conversion is warranted for 90 days, which is the warranty carried by TREMEC.
  • With four gear sets to choose from, no differential gear change required for any model year.
  • Kit is developed to replace the Borg-Warner and General Motors three or four-speed automatics supplied in the 1975-1996 XJ-S V-12.
  • The step-by-step instruction manual makes installation relatively easy and includes many photographs.
  • Tools required are specified. The conversion was designed with the weekend do-it-yourself mechanic in mind.
  • Installation takes about 24 hours.
