Jaguar Rear Crankshaft Seal Conversion Kit, Late 3.4/3.8, 4.2 21-1552

For 4.2 liter 6-cylinder engines and some late 3.4 and 3.8.
Estimated Quantity Available: 8
Pricing: $399.95

One of the few weak points of the Jaguar XK six-cylinder engine is the rear crankshaft seal. Early engines don't even have one, and later 3.8s and all 4.2s make do with an antiquated rope seal. These seal conversion kit uses a modern rear seal for -- get this -- leak-free sealing! While such conversions are not new, these kits combine excellent quality and a reasonable price. Please note that the crankshaft must be turned down to fit the seal, so this modification is best made during an engine rebuild.

Please note that while the early and late kits, (21-1550 and 21-1552, respectively) generally fall between 3.4/3.8 and 4.2 applications, there are exceptions. The following 3.4 and 3.8 applications take this later kit: Later MK IIs with an alloy sump (3.4 from KJ.2791; 3.8 from LC.8068 and 7J.50001-on, which is the 340. All earlier engine series take the earlier kit.); 3.4S/3.8S, 3.8 MK X.

Of course many engines have been switched around, so use this determining factor: on early engines, the rear sump seal (either C2302 or C36499) is incorporated into a groove in the rear cover/seal housing. On later engines, the rear cover/seal housing is smooth and there is a groove in the oil sump to accommodate the C36499 seal.
