JAGUAR LAND ROVER REPORTS U.S. SALES FOR AUGUST

  • Land Rover brand increases 10 percent for August, 2011
  • Range Rover Sport leads sales higher with 39 percent gain for August, 2011
  • Jaguar Land Rover North America sales up 9 percent YTD 2011

September 1, 2011 MAHWAH, NJ Jaguar Land Rover North America, LLC today reported August 2011 sales: Land Rover sales for the month were 2,87, up 10 percent from 2,544 in August 2010; Jaguar sales for the month were 810, down 43 percent from 1,414 in August 2010 due to model year changeover; Jaguar Land Rover North America combined sales for the month were 3,617, down 9 percent from 3,958 units in August 2010. For the full year 2011, Jaguar Land Rover North America is up 9 percent with 31,114 units sold.

"While August was a challenging month for our brands as we go through the model year changeover, the Land Rover brand was able to keep its winning streak going with another monthly improvement," said Andy Goss, President, Jaguar Land Rover North America. "We look forward to coming into the fall with a updated Jaguar MY 12 lineup and the addition of the Range Rover Evoque."

U.S. BRAND HIGHLIGHTS

Land Rover

Land Rover's U.S. sales in August were up 10 percent. The Range Rover Sport was the volume leader with 1,199 units sold, a 39 percent increase from 860 units in 2010. LR4 sales increased 11 percent to 608 units from 549 in August 2010. For the year, Land Rover sales are 22,910 units, up 16 percent versus 2010.

Land Rover's 2011 Model Year line-up features four models: The 230-hp 3.2 liter I6 powered LR2; the LR4 powered by the 375-hp 5.0 liter V8; the Range Rover Sport and Range Rover, both available with the naturally-aspirated 375-hp V8 and 510-hp supercharged 5.0 liter V8 powertrains. The Model Year 12 Range Rover Evoque luxury compact SUV goes on sale this fall. The 2012 Range Rover Evoque will have a starting price of $43,995* for the five-door, and $44,995* for the coupe and achieves 28 MPG** EPA highway and 19 MPG** EPA city.

Jaguar

Jaguar sales are down 7 percent for the year with 8,24 units sold compared to 8,781 units year to date in 2010. This fall the Model Year 12 lineup will feature updated versions of the Jaguar XF and XK models with revised interior and exterior styling, and new models such as the high-performance 550-hp XKR-S.

Jaguar's 2011 Model Year line-up features three models: The Jaguar XJ luxury sedan, powered by either the naturally-aspirated 385-hp V8, the 470-hp supercharged 5.0 liter V8 or the 510-hp supercharged 5.0 liter V8; the Jaguar XF sports sedan powered by either the naturally-aspirated 385-hp V8, the 470-hp supercharged 5.0 liter V8 or, in the XFR, the 510-hp supercharged 5.0 liter V8 powertrains; and the XK coupe and convertible sports cars powered by either the naturally-aspirated 385-hp V8, or for the XKR, the 510-hp supercharged 5.0 liter V8 powertrains.
